Bloomberg Hosts New Catalyst Virtual Event to Celebrate Innovators Developing Solutions to the World’s Greatest Problems • ThePowerBloc

Wednesday, Michael Bloomberg introduced the inaugural cohort of Bloomberg New Economy Catalysts. The new initiative is one that unites innovators and entrepreneurs who are “accelerating solutions” to some of the world’s greatest problems. The 2021 Catalysts have made tremendous strides in the fields of technology and policy across the globe with the intention of building “a more and sustainable global future.”

“The Bloomberg New Economy Catalysts are a group of talented entrepreneurs, scientists, policymakers and other leaders taking on pressing global challenges,” said Bloomberg in a press release obtained by ThePowerBloc. “Many of them are from countries that are having an increasingly big impact on the world economy. And I know our forum will benefit from their contributions.”

The first virtual event, which took place today, provided Catalysts with an opportunity to share new developments in “climate, agriculture, biotech, e-commerce, space, and digital money.” Among this year’s Catalysts are Yvonne Aki-Sawyerr, Mayor of Freetown, Sierra Leone; Alloysius Attah, CEO and Co-Founder, Farmerline; Nthabiseng Mosia, Co-Founder, Easy Solar; Shamim Nabuuma Kaliisa, Founder and Executive Director, Chil Artificial Intelligence Lab; and Elizabeth Rossiello, CEO and founder, AZA Finance, just to name a few.

Catalysts and their contributions to the Bloomberg New Economy Catalyst virtual event will help to shape dialogue for the annual Bloomberg New Economy Forum, which is slated to take place in November.
